100% Steering option enabled! It’s a BRAND new “11-pulses” configuration option.
The default steering mix percentage has always been 50%. This has been an excellent “starting point” for the vast majority of people. The feedback we receive about steering percentage has shifted from near 100% wanting less, to 80% wanting more. Less steering has always been easy, as the steering can be turned down in all compatible radios. More steering has required disabling the mixing in the Malenki (6 pulses in Configuration mode) and doing the mixing in the radio. People running 150g bots are often down near 35% with powerful motors on 2wd bots in low-grip arenas, and occasionally get up into the 60s with 4wd in high-grip arenas. The usage of Malenkis in heavier bots, with more grip, and occasionally less surplus drive power has resulted in more people wanting more steering percentage.
The “ideal” steering mix percentage depends on several factors including:
1. Personal preference – some people want a very responsive bot, others prefer something “more controllable”.
2. The bot’s resistance to steering – increasing weight, grip, number of drive tires, moment of inertia, and a few other factors can all make it “harder” to turn.
3. Surplus drive power – bot’s with plenty of drive power generally feel like they can easily turn and will generally be preferred with less steering percentage.
4. Floor traction – many pistol grip radios have a steering Dual Rates switch easily reachable while running. Serious R/C racers adjust the steering Dual Rates as the grip changes during a single race. Many of us that do mixing in the radios tend to adjust the steering percentage each time we get to a new arena, or if we change tires.
The inability of radios like the Turnigy Evolution and FlySky FS-GT5 to do mixing has prevented some people from being able to raise the steering percentage. Not anymore! Now you can toggle the Malenki’s internal steering percentage to 100%, and dial it down however you see fit.
This MNI-HV is rated for 2S-4S lipo batteries. It will NOT work with 1S.
The MNI-HV is being released as a Beta due to significant demand. Much of it has been tested extensively on 2S and 3S. 4S testing so far has been minimal. The motor drivers are rated at 3.5A.
The first batch of MNI-HV had a voltage regulator that had an odd issue with SOME brushless ESCs that generate a VERY high frequency noise (100+khz). After April 2023 the new voltage regulators do not have those problems. The issue also appears to be solvable with a large capacitor across the power leads.

The globally successful Malenki-Nano has now been upgraded to the Malenki-Nano-Integrated (MNI). The MNI retains all of the original features and adds several fantastic improvements:
1. Integration of the micro-crystal radio module into the single 4-layer PCB. Previously the “large crystal” radio module was soldered to the 2-layer PCB. This new design reduces the overall height by HALF and effectively eliminates the possibility of physical failure (other than direct hits of course). It also reduces the weight by 0.2g.
2. Addition of “Power Distribution” solder-rings. Soldering power leads for servos or brushless ESCs is not only MUCH easier, but allows those wires to be placed on the same side of the MNI, simplifying wring and further reducing the overall package height.
3. Increased solder-ring size. Tinning high-strand-count 20 gauge wire small enough to fit the old rings was a bit of a challenge. The new solder-rings make assembly with “good” wire much easier.
4. Duplication of the PWM pads to both sides of the board. Another significant packaging / ease of use improvement.
Developed by the amazing Mark R. to give all of us everything we could ask for in a TINY, affordable, easy-to-use Receiver-ESC combo device. Turnabot is thrilled to partner with Mark and produce the Malenki-Nanos for use in the Americas.
Utilizing AFHDS2A radio protocol it works with many FlySky and Turnigy transmitters. (Please be aware that AFHDS is NOT the same as AFHDS2A)
It has THREE brushed ESCs (so it’s technically a Triple-ESC / TESC) and two PWM output pads. Each of those pads can independently drive a servo or a brushless ESC.
The Malenki-Nano is easily configurable by powering it on for 5 seconds before powering on the radio, then sending Hi-Low pulses on Ch 5. Configuration options include:
Reversing either Left or Right side (different than reversing Ch 1 or Ch2)
Disabling mixing
Disabling braking
Servo-stretching*
*Many servos are happy to nearly double their range of motion. Please use caution when enabling the stretcher, many servos literally go twice as far in both directions, don’t let it break your linkages or mounts. Also, some servos are not happy getting signals across the new full range, you many need to reduce your endpoints to keep the servos happy.
